This is followed by a maintenance dose of 300 to 600 mg 3 times a day, depending on individual drug tolerance. The maximum daily dose is 3,600 mg, which is spread over the course of the day (ie, the 1,200 mg dose is taken at three points in the day).

Neurontin is not intended for use in children under three years of age. For children, the starting dose is 10 to 15 mg per kilogram of body weight. Patients may be directed to take a dose of 10 or 15 mg at three different times of the day (morning, afternoon and evening).
