The staff is very efficient and helpful. They just got on with the job. The counselors are exactly the same. The staff makes clinic appointments a hassle-free experience. Once again TGH provides excellent service.

  2. The title of the comment isMore staff to care for patients after surgery

    By TEllenB-Posted on March 10, 2022

The operation itself was excellent, the surgeon and anesthetist were wonderful, as was the nurse who was with me during the procedure. However, I felt there was a serious lack of nurses on the ward to look after me. He didn't know what surgery I had and had to ask me instead of looking at the records. Absolutely no after care was provided in my opinion. This is not the fault of the paramedics. I feel the need for more staff to care for post-op patients. I arrived early in the morning and was only offered toast and coffee once after surgery. No other food was served or offered. I had to ask for water. Fortunately, I was able to get up and walk faster than most other patients, but those who couldn't, I found it painful. I was going to spend the night at home, as I had no one to look after me, but, as I felt that there was hardly any supervision or monitoring, I thought I would be better off alone. I had a friend who agreed to take care of me at home, but she couldn't stay overnight. The ward was clean, but it took hours to collect my gown and other belongings, which had been left on the floor for most of my hospital stay. During my stay there was almost no sign of the nursing staff on our floor. A lady was sick and had to deal with it alone. Another should be back in bed, but stays up all day. That day, again, there was no food for most of us in the ward. I know it's not the paramedics fault, they are expected to do too much and don't have time. I think Tameside needs to have more aftercare staff on this ward. this is very scary.

As usual the visit was horrible. The doctor was contemptuous and arrogant. He clearly didn't want to hear what I had to say. I felt worthless and it made me feel like my thoughts and feelings were unimportant and unwanted. My doctor ordered tests but didn't do them. Don't bother going to the emergency room. Hospitals used to be classified as 'safe spaces', but A&E departments were not. The doctor's diagnosis of "you have a lot of poop" (???) turned out to be "enlarged kidneys." A&E has once again failed to meet patient expectations.

The catastrophic fall occurred on the night of January 4, 2022. during my night shift. Friends took me to a and e. Tameside has since taken over. I was treated almost immediately and treated with compassion, dignity and respect from the receptionist to the actual doctor. The care was excellent and even though I was shocked and didn't quite understand what it meant, they were patient and allowed me to interact. Thank you to everyone who made this very serious accident and situation bearable. You, each and every one of you, thank you.

  6. The title of the comment isankle injury

    By tracy46-Posted on January 21, 2022

I was out in a field with a dog and slipped on wet grass. With my wellies off, my ankles face south. Put the wellies back on...go to Tameside Hospital. Omg they are amazing. I waited 10 minutes in the waiting room...the ankle was in place. Medicines are good for pain relief. Flared jeans. Another top doctor came to see me and said I had to do it again because it wasn't in the right place...more meds and reset...boom it's over. The next day the surgery lasted 3 hours and I started walking with a cane. I'm so happy because I was told it was a bad break that changed my life and I'm 12 weeks into non weight bearing recovery. Tough times and being home again... so glad it's over.

I tested positive and had to have a colonoscopy. I'd say "scared" is an understatement. I have the most amazing team looking after me. They put my mind at ease and the colon surgeon helped me the most. He was very friendly - very approachable. Nothing was too much trouble. The whole process was unhurried and informative and I left feeling confident that I was well served by Tameside Hospital. I have every confidence to return. Thank you very much

He was asked to go to day surgery on January 25th after an initial consultation. (I stayed one night.) Women's ward. Very friendly and attentive treatment from start to finish. Everyone from the front desk to the theater staff is very respectful. I was very nervous, but my feeling held. After the operation, when I woke up, I was taken care of right away. I can't say enough good things about this fantastic team. Thank you all.

    Answer by December 30, 2021

I am sorry to read about your experience at Tameside Hospital Emergency Department. While every effort is made to provide up-to-date waiting times, unfortunately waiting times may increase due to people's clinical needs and the number of visits. Be assured that each patient is triaged and assessed based on their clinical needs, meaning people are seen on clinical priority rather than time of arrival. Please accept my apologies, when you went to the ER, you noticed that the area was not clean. I am also disappointed to hear that you found the staff to be rude to you. I have shared your comments with the department so they can consider your experience. If you would like to discuss your experience further please contact the PALS and Complaints team on 0161 922 4466 or email your friends andcomplaint@tgh.nhs.uk and we can provide further assistance. Thank you for raising your concerns, as an organization we use feedback to facilitate learning across the organization.

  10. The title of the comment isAbsolutely disgusting nothing to say.

On November 16th I had keyhole surgery for endometriosis and was greeted by a lovely guy who works there who tried to put me at ease as I was so terrified of my surgery. A rude lady came into the ward and a (nurse) rudely pointed at me and said "who is that". This behavior shouldn't be there, he didn't do anything wrong, it looks unprofessional in my eyes. Hours passed before someone asked me "want a drink or food" lying in the corner wondering if I was saying out loud what else? motion sickness! ! The surgeon didn't bother to come to me to discuss my operation, he didn't even check if I was ok, nothing, I had to ask if they found anything because they didn't tell me anything! I would not recommend this hospital to anyone looking forward to going home and having my family take good care of me.
